Azari, Zane & Moko | A Family and Maternity Session in Wentworth Falls

There was something beautifully relaxed about this family and maternity session with Azari, Zane and Moko in Wentworth Falls, in the heart of the Blue Mountains.

We spent the afternoon wandering through the trees and long grass, making the most of the warm sunshine and the slower pace of an afternoon together. With a growing family and plenty of little moments to capture, the session was less about perfectly posed photographs and more about letting everyone explore, cuddle, play and simply be together.

The Blue Mountains provided the perfect backdrop. The soft light filtering through the trees, open grassy spaces and natural textures gave the photographs a sense of place while keeping the focus firmly on the connection between them.

The session continued down at the lake, where we captured some beautiful maternity photographs of Azari as the afternoon light softened. Surrounded by the trees, water and gentle evening light, it was a beautiful way to slow things down and focus on this special season of anticipation before their family grows again.

As a Blue Mountains family photography session, it was a perfect example of why I love photographing families outdoors. There is space to move, explore and interact, and the environment becomes part of the story rather than simply a backdrop.

For families travelling from Sydney, the Blue Mountains offer so many beautiful locations for a relaxed family photo session. Wentworth Falls, with its trees, open spaces and lake, is particularly beautiful as the afternoon light changes throughout the session.

The session continued down at the lake, where we created something a little more artistic for Azari's maternity photographs. With flowing silks, delicate flower petals and the stillness of the water, we were able to create photographs that felt soft, feminine and a little dreamlike.

The scattered petals added texture and colour against the natural landscape. I love incorporating creative elements into maternity sessions when they feel true to the person being photographed. Rather than simply posing beside a beautiful location, we can use fabric, flowers, water and movement to create something more expressive and artistic.

The combination of water, petals and flowing silk brought a beautiful sense of movement to the final images, an artistic celebration of motherhood and this fleeting chapter before welcoming a new little person into the family.
